“I have served on our Credit Union Board for more than 4 years. I am currently volunteering on the ALCO finance committee. I served 9 years as chairman of the National Geographic FCU and negotiated their merger into OAS FCU. My experience will guide me for the next years to ensure our Credit Union remains strong and provides security and good rates and service for members.”

Jeff Hertrick was elected to the National Geographic Credit Union Board in 2004 and served as Chair of the Nat Geo Credit Union Board of Directors from 2009 until it merged into OAS FCU in 2018.

He served more than 4 years on the OAS FCU Board, including his election in 2019. For 2 years, he was Board Secretary.

At OAS FCU Jeff has been a member and chair of the Community Relations & Membership committee and currently serves on the Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO).

Jeff has been in management throughout his career, handling budgets, overseeing groups of up to 34 employees, and overseeing many aspects of customer service.

He worked at National Geographic for more than 18 years in several capacities. He was Director of News & Documentary Digital Video, for which he commissioned and worked with video producers from around the world. He was also Director of Digital Video Operations for National Geographic Partners, part of The Walt Disney Company.

Prior to National Geographic, Mr. Hertrick worked in television news as a news director, reporter, anchor, producer, executive producer and videographer. He worked for Discovery networks and produced a television news show for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Most recently, he was Director of Digital Strategy for the National Press Foundation in Washington, D.C. He taught Masters students at Medill School of Journalism and students at West Virginia University.

In volunteer work outside of the credit union, he spent 12 years as Treasurer for his condo association in Washington, D.C. He currently serves as a film selection volunteer for the American Conservation Film Festival.
