An international civil servant, I have served the Organization of American States at headquarters in Washington, DC, since October 1992. Currently an OAS official English language translator-reviser, I also did a 12-year stint as OAS media relations specialist.

I came to the OAS from New York City, where I had been information attaché for the Jamaican Consulate-General. Before that, I was a reporter with JAMPRESS news agency and a freelance translator with IPS international news agency in Jamaica, as well as an occasional correspondent for other international media. In fact. I started my professional career as a Jamaican foreign service officer, specializing in economic relations, foreign trade, public information, and protocol.

Viewing myself as a lifelong learner, my background includes a University of the West Indies degree in mass communication, language & literature and postgraduate diploma in international relations; a University of Liverpool postgraduate diploma in business administration (marketing); and a Language Training Centre (Jamaica) certificate in translating.

Serving people is a core value for me, I have served on the board of OAS FCU for a number of years, and actively volunteer with my church in Fairfax, VA, including as a board member.

I have volunteered as a board member and collaborator with several Washington DC- and New York-based organizations, including the DC-based Institute of Caribbean Studies of which I am a founding board member, as well as board member of Brother’s Keeper International (BKI). I have been part of the news and sports team for Caribbean Radio’s weekly variety program on Washington DC’s WPFW 89.3 FM for some 32 years.

My wife Faith and I are parents to two young adult daughters, Imani and Zahra.
