My vision is to create a much better everyday life for all our members that take advantage of the many instruments our Credit Union has to offer. I vow to actively participate in the meetings always keeping the members best interest as a priority.

My name is Maria Fernanda Story. I moved to the US from Ecuador after finishing high school. I have over 20 years of experience in the area of accounting as well as administration and finance. Prior to entering the OAS, I worked in the private sector, in the areas of Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables and Payroll at a dealership in Fairfax, VA.

I attended Northern Virginia Community College at nights while working full time, and in 2001 earned my Associate degree in Business Administration. I then transferred to George Mason University. I applied for a consultant position at the OAS in the Department of Budgetary and Financial Services and was offered the job. I finished my last semester online at University of Phoenix and received my Bachelor of Sciences in Administration with a concentration in Accounting. I also earned an MBA from the American Intercontinental University with a concentration on Project Management.

I became OAS staff on October 2003 and worked in DBFS as a Grants technician until 2006 and Accounts Payables Manager until 2010. I then transferred to the Secretariat of Strengthening Democracy where I have been for almost 10 years working for the Administrative Management Section.

I have acquired a lot of experience building budgets for various projects, executing funds following strict donor agreements and reporting to donors. I am also a wife and a mother of two who is always in search of that perfect balance between family and work commitments. I love doing volunteer jobs with my kids, and spending some quality time with my family at the beach every summer.

I believe that my education, personal life experiences, and employment background will be an asset which will enable me to positively contribute to the Credit Union.
