“Being a volunteer is an honor and gives me the opportunity to contribute to the credit union and serve our members. During this global pandemic, our priority has been keeping staff and members safe while maintaining high standards of service. I support our strategic focus of global reach and serving members, more effectively. I will utilize my management and organization development experience to strengthen our volunteer-base and volunteer leadership development for a strong credit union.”

K.C. Soares is currently Chair, Board of Directors, and has been an elected member of the credit union for over 20 years. While also serving on the Community Relations and Membership and the Human Capital Committees, she actively participates in the OASFCU future visioning and identifying processes that contribute toward the credit union’s future actions in benefit of our members. She continues developing and supporting the Volunteer Program.

She joined the OAS in 1979, working in the Social Affairs Department, subsequently the Rural and Urban Development Department. She was selected to lead the OAS Center for Training and Development (1985-1996) and worked in the Fellowships Department until 1997. She also served on the OAS Staff Committee for several terms.

Since leaving the OAS, K.C. has worked internationally in her professional field. Her work includes – strategic planning; organization assessments and evaluations, including national programs; income generating and microfinance programs/projects; innovation processes in organizations; social justice initiatives. She brings her experience into her activities as Board member by supporting the inclusion of new technologies, talent development and collaboratively working together.

K.C. holds a Ph.D. and M.A., Cornell University, School of Business and Public Administration; Scholar-in-Residence, Business, Vanderbilt University; M.S. in Education (honors) and B.S. in Business, University of Southern California. She was a Visiting Scholar with the Polish Academy of Science and the USSR Academy of Science. She received the “Volunteer of the Year, 2016” from the NAFCU-National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions.

K.C. also serves on the Board of Advisors, Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution, George Mason University and is the Founding President of IODA-International Organization Development Association.
