Credit Committee


This year there are three (3) positions available for the Credit Committee; The two candidates with the highest number of votes will be elected to serve on the Credit Committee for a three-year term. The third candidate with the most votes will serve on the Credit Committee for a one-year interim termPlease see the candidate’s biography.
 

Doris Lamas*

“My vision is to align the Credit Committee objectives and goals with the tactical and strategic management objectives and goals of the Credit Union, maximizing the benefits for the OASFCU members. Through effective communication and information on products, we can inform the members about improvements and how to profit from them. I look forward to playing an active role in the collaborative efforts carried out by the Credit Committee and the staff.
 
My mission will be to accomplish tasks, with volunteers and management/staff in an interactional environment, in order to be a bridge between Credit Union members, the Board, committees, and staff to transmit their need and ideas. I plan to provide input on vanguard technologies and automated process.”

 
Doris Lamas is a Venezuelan citizen with extensive domestic and international exposure to IT management operations and solutions. She has been an OAS FCU member since 2002, and served as a volunteer in the Technology Committee, the Human Capital Committee, and the Credit Committee.

Currently, she is working in the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) of the OAS as the head of the Technology and Systems Section. Her background allows her to contribute to the OASFCU by ensuring that both security and innovative ideas are kept in the forefront, in order to improve processes. As a reference of her work in the Credit Committee for this last three years, you can check in the OAS FCU annual credit report 2017 that our Cooperative was awarded by the Credit Union Mortgage Association (CUMA) for originating over 20 million dollars in real estate loans. Also, we were the number 1 mortgage loan originator among the 86 credit unions that work with CUMA. Our loan portfolio continues to grow in loans of 6% from 2016. Finally, Ms. Lamas encouraged and advised the implementation of the paperless processes in the Credit Committee that got in place since 2017; you can check the first paperless meeting in our Facebook page.  

Ms. Lamas holds a BS degree in System Engineering from Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuela, and an Executive Master in Telecommunications and Information Technology Management from EOI Escuela de Negocios, Madrid, Spain. Language skills include Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Italian.
