Juan Sebastian Ordonez

My name is Juan Sebastian Ordonez a Colombian citizen, and I first joined the OAS in 2006.  Prior to entering the Organization, I worked at a bank and at an NGO based in Colombia. After a year living and working in China, I rejoined the OAS in 2009.

I have been a member of the OASFCU since I did my internship at the OAS. I now work in the Department of Financial Services and have been an employee for ten years.

I earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), a master’s of business administration from the George Washington University, and hold a certification as a Government Financial Manager awarded by the Association of Government Accountants.

I’m interested in serving on the Credit Union chiefly for two reasons. First, I have enjoyed my membership in the OASFCU since day one; I have always known that I am putting my money in a safe place. Second, the community feeling that the OASFCU offers cannot be found anywhere else. Now it is time for me to give back to the OASFCU and all its members.

I have always had a keen interest in finance and banking. Since my parents opened my first savings account (cuenta ahorrito) when I was 7 and taught me the importance of being financially responsible - a lesson that I hope to pass on to my children.
